Dublin U-21's 2012
« on: November 09, 2011, 02:17:04 PM »
Should be strong this year. This group won a leinster final as minors and have some smashing footballers available to them. Anybody know of any players who perahps haven't seen to much underage action for the Dubs but have progressed to a level where they would be a good addition to the panel or some lads who were perhaps overlooked?

Not sure if there's too many hidden gems out there but this will be a strong team... I'll have a run at it and probably forget a couple of established players

Can't think of a keeper

Fionn Carney Syls
Kevin O Brien Mearnog
Eoin Keogh Raheny

Gerry Seaver Ballyboughal
John Small Ballymun
jack McCaffrey Clontarf

Ciaran Reddin Maurs
Emmet O Conghaile Lucan

Harry Dawson Skerries
Gary Sweeney Syls
Paul Hudson Davis

Philly Ryan Brigids
Darragh Stapleton Lucan
Ciaran Kilkenny Castleknock

Others contenders are the likes of Adam Caffrey,Fergal Duffy,Robert McDaid and maybe Paul Mannion

Good forward line if Stapleton was fit and well especially.

That's a great side there Lt. Aldo... I'd probably have Gav Ivory there too. Just my opinion.

But that's a good side.

Some of them not even playing club football so unlikely to be playing county football.

Gavin McArdle from Syls was on the team last year and is U21 again in 2012. He is a regular in the Syls first team at wing back.  I would have no dought that he'll be in contention for a spot on the panel again.

Two others I can think of locally are Luke Fletcher(Maurs) and Jack Smith(Skerries), both are in with a shout I reckon. How is Duffy from Ballinteer getting on, always impressed me when I saw him play with the minors.
Something glorious is about to happen....

Danny Byrne from Maur's must be worth a mention too.

There must be some serious corner backs out there if Jack doesn't make this team.
Sure were all related out here!

Sean Swords (Raheny), John Kelly Na fianna may well find themselves in the shake up as well as Gavin McCardle as someone else mentioned. I've also heard good things about Niall McGovern of Na Fianna & Craig Wilson (Vincents).

Bart, when we won the All Ireland last year Eoin Culligan and Mark Coughlan weren't playing any club football and were on the team. Stapleton is a different story but anyone who was in Breffni Park two years ago for the Down minor qf would give him every chance to get involved.

Think Ryan O'Flaherty of Na Fianna was the starting keeper with U21s last year and gather he is eligible again.

Mark Schutte Cuala

Philip Ryan St Brigids
Darragh Stapleton Lucan
Ciaran Kilkenny Castleknock

That would be a bit close to the starting team imo. Good few lads left out and agree both mannion and mcardle could be good contenders. Also if daly allows it woudnt be surprised if danny sutcliffe is involved. Very good footballer

Ryan is underage and can't see anyone replacing imo

Would have though Kilkenny could seriously use a break at this stage -while cannot fault hs commitment to the cause would be perfectly understandable if passed on U21.
