Should have a reasonable panel available for this, problem being a good few are out with the seniors which wont help preparation but aside from the seniors there’s a few good forwards available? The 2 x Curries, Donal Burke, Cian O’Sullivan, Billy Ryan and probably plenty more i can’t think of, bit of a stretch to expect the u17s from last year to cut it at this level? there was a forward from cuala on the minors last year i think, looked a lively option, notice he hasn’t featured for Cuala on their run though.
Crumlin’s Paul O’Brien, previously a manager of the DCU team, became DCU’s first games development officer in 2013, with special emphasis on hurling, camogie and handball. He has been with Dublin minor hurlers in the past and is the current manager of the county under 21s.
Didn’t know who was manager this year, will have seen a good few dubs through the Fitzgibbon competition anyway.
Paul o Brien is also dublin nth manager, playing In final on Thursday in Carlow @ 2.0. He knows all the Leinster schools players well to recruit to DCU. Sees them all at high level competing.
Sounds like a good choice for u21 boss.
Younger Currie doing Leaving Cert and won’t be available.
Making this an U20 competition means he’ll only get one year at it. They didn’t think about that when worrying about minors!
Forgot he was on the colleges team. Should still be a decent panel.
It’s still Under 21 for the hurling, same format also, its only the football that has changed.
Sorry. Thanks. It’s impossible to keep up with it all.
This years 21s should be a very good team, have the likes of Cian Hendrick, Paddy Smyth, Conor Ryan, Daire grey, Fergal Whitely, Cian o Sullivan, Donal Burke, Johnny Mcguirk, Conor Burke,Johnny Walsh, Conroy, Colin Currie that’s just to name a few.
Good group. Potential problem is the overlap with the seniors.
21’s had a good win v Limerick last weekend by all accounts. Slow start but finished off well was the story I heard.
Good to see a number of Dublin representatives on the DCU Freshers winning team.
Meant to post that about the freshers. Good year for DCU hurling.
Who is playing u21s this year, should have a strong panel to work with.
They played Tipp a few days previous and destroyed them, think the score line was 6-21 to 1-16. Eoin Conroy, Conor Burke, Colin Currie and Conor Ryan were all outsiding
i was wondering where conor burke had got to, didn’t realise he was still u21. Only challenges but encouraging nonetheless.
Add in the younger currie, hayes etc and you have some good players in there. Also possibly is it billy Ryan from craobh another good player.
A year too early for Billy Ryan. A year too early for most of the Dublin North team that won Leinster this year. Be good to see a few of them playing senior club before playing 21s as a lot of them are still minor. I did see two of the north team playing senior when Isles played Plunketts a few weeks ago so that is good to see.
Yea you are probably right, forgot it’s only u20 in football, still u21 in hurling. Sean Currie played for na fianna in their last league game i think.
They beat Lucan quite convincingly in that. He is a real talent.
Hes the younger lad ye…he has huge potential. The older brother is decent but not in the same league. Na fianna while still very very young will get to a few finals in the next few years.
Does Under 21 move to Under 20 next year? Mad that lads who are Under 18 are allowed play this, defeats the whole purpose!
