Another example of where the old saying “Don’t mix sport with politics” runs true. A blanket ban over all political messages on jerseys is the only stance FIFA could take. Although how you totally de-politicise (is that a word) an event which involves countries competing against each other is near impossible. Sure isn’t that what war is after all?
