The black hole image itself to many would probably appear to be not a big deal. But the significance of it cannot really be underestimated. The fact than an image of something, something that would of appeared most odd at the time; a feature of our universe that was predicted in Einsteins equations has been viewed is utterly remarkable.

It represents in my opinion empirical proof, in a age of false information, that science works.
