Was out for a bite to eat last week. 4 eating 2 drinking – total bill €160 which seems reasonable. But the price of the pints – a dozen, half of which were Guinness – was over €72, nearly half the bill!! Seems only a couple of years ago that a pint was €3/€3.50 – it’s off the scale now.

A lot of stuff is off the scale. We just except it. Get used to paying that it will never go the other way. My favourite enda Kenny ball bag line… the best little country.

For some reason I was reminded of this as today. Only realised now that Ricky Tomlinson did the voiceover at the end.

Gavin Cooney: The FAI Cup final was no fluke - why LOI crowds are booming
The boom in the cup final crowd reflects one across the League of Ireland as a whole.

GuyIncognito I don't go to the dark side, where Association Football is discussed! Furthermore my main point is that Gaelic football is shite to watch and that is helping domestic soccer along! Happy Friday!

I think the predictability of intercounty Gaelic football is also turning the general public away. Crowds for example at our intermediate club championships this year were very good.

Dublin or Kerry generally win the all Ireland. The provincial championships are dead. There is an air of shadow boxing until the quarter finals.

The game is clinical and dull now. The top teams hold possession, work their scores. The mark has not helped in my opinion. I watched back the 2006 semi final between Mayo and Dublin and it’s like watching a different sport. Off the cuff exciting football played by both teams. Plenty of mistakes yes but entertainment through the roof.

Ladies' football finals have got as high or higher attendances, we really can't be so insecure to be losing the plot over one decent crowd at a soccer game.

Great that the domestic league is getting better crowds, i suspect a lot of people are turned off by the corruption & oligarch league across the way, sure the football is a higher standard but it's just a billionaire plaything now. i can't imagine a bigger turn-off.

The Gaelic Football Championship now has way more games and the format is convoluted and hard to understand so people aren't going to make it to every game of a 8-10 game competition, where they previously only had to make it to 3 or 4 games and back then, each one could be the last game of the summer.

You're still better off having 10 games with 20K at them than 3 games with 35K at them.
