All Things Horseracing

You have to feel sorry for Davy missing out on his last ever Gold Cup but when you have to stand yourself down from the biggest race of the year on a day where you haven’t even had a fall, you know Father Time is saying it’s time to stop.

Impressive winner and the right horse won the Gold Cup, has been the best staying Chaser this season. Shame APT wasn’t right, Rachael never looked happy.
I’ll be accused of talking through my wallet here but it’s hard not to feel cheated with Stattler. I pointed out his overnight drift, he had to be ridden into the first fence and given a crack of the whip before the 2nd. He couldn’t possibly have been right and his price suggests they knew it.

Had conflated EW and Bravemansgame to win , best horse won without even being fluent throughout

Willie didn’t give it a hope before the race either.

He said when questioned about the chances of it that it had a very small E/w chance. Once you hear that it hadn’t a hope.

Winner was the classier horse and looked the winner a long way out.

Hadn’t heard that but with the price drift I couldn’t have traded out anyway. No dispute whatsoever that CDG has the yard’s class runner and if Stattler had done something similar to Noble Yeats I’d have said I just got it wrong. But no horse should be beaten before the first fence and he was.

Had Stay away Fay…last race got a tip for outsider Buddy One e/w. Backed him at 24/1 but drifting to 30/1 since. Mayo owned horse so back him at your Pearl

I had a fiver free bet so took Mayomans tip and stuck it on that and got 33-1 , id backed No ordinary Joe , so I was quite happy when they went to the last
But summing up my Cheltenham, close no cigar

Came 3rd…so a small profit going E/W. Today was the first day I backed anything at Cheltenham this year. It’s a minefield.

No winner for Davy at the festival. Whens the last time that happened I wonder ?

Was even for the week after Thursday, well, slightly up, nothing much. Didn’t get a place on Friday so lost my weeks allowance in the final day!

Bryan Cooper has announced his retirement, still a very young man 30 , but has had more than his fair share of bad injuries, getting out in one piece
A gold cup winner on Don Cossack , also remember him on apples jade as a personal favourite.

Best of luck whatever the future holds

Shame for the game but he sounds like he’ll be a lot happier out of it. Between the injuries and the loss of confidence from losing the Gigginstown job, he just never got back to riding the way he did 8-10 years back. Sad as the talent was clearly there.
