Cricket

They were 21/3.
Amazing stuff from Brook, ably supported by some other guy named Joe Root.
England are revolutionising Test Cricket. And, 40 year old Jimmy Anderson is back in at No 1 in the bowling rankings for Test Cricket.

Aussies well beaten by India in their first two tests earlier this month. Not boding well for Australia ahead of this summer’s Ashes series. That said, the sub-continent conditions are probably not Australia’s favourite.

New Zealand 25/3 … 10 overs …

Blackcaps have been drains in this series, the fall from where they were 9 months ago is remarkable even allowing for the absentees. Southee’s captaincy will require a win Vs Sri Lanka to survive I feel. Or a drawn series at least.

Kane Williamson is totally out of form, also. Not being helped by one or the other opening batsmen getting out early.

Bit of a fightback. Need somebody to get a massive innings to have any hope

So, when the NZ opening batsmen put on a stand of 149, Williamson comes in at three and scores a century.
Sometimes it actually sounds like I know what I am talking about.
Great fight back from NZ, probably too little, too late but at least they have something to bowl at.

Indeed. Needed to get near 600, batting conditions are too good to defend less than 300. And only one wicket down from bowling at them in the last hour.
Jack Leach 5 wickets yesterday, good to see a solid low-key spinner get a landmark. And hope for Bracewell too…

Weather cloudy & cool this morning, sunny later. Not going to be any swing. Only hope would be cracks in the wicket but nowt much evident yesterday evening.

2nd wicket down but only the night watchman.

Duckett out, gets interesting! He was never the same once he left The Union Gap

Still several key wickets needed. Brook of course is the in-form guy but probably best when in an attacking sitcheeayshun. Root & Stokes will be the two wickets that could open this up for Blackcaps…If the expert analysis from yer wan during the first test was accurate, Stokes will produce a big innings if comes in back to the wall. Root has done that many times of course

You can’t beat the English for cricket implosions.

5 down, it’s all on. Rooty & Stokesy England’s main hopes. The latter grew up down in NZ

Sun’s out and Root attacking. Wagner concedes runs heavily when a top batsman gets after him in good conditions

Stokes so lucky the one time he had a swipe. Bracewell tying him down a bit. Now Matt Henry looks crocked, FFS

Henry back fielding, hopefully available to bowl after lunch.
Clever from Southee, bowling with the keeper up. Stops Root and, more especially, Stokes attacking down the wicket

Stokes injured now but still just smashed a four with the same shot he injured himself with. Bit of cloud cover now and there’s spin but only one, third-choice spinner. Kane will probably bowl last over before lunch

Root simply class in these circumstances. Need a top class spinner, and probably a second one

Looked all over and then Wagner gets the big two out in successive overs! This could still be a great finish.

#neverdoubtedwaggy

Broad out, caught by Wagner. Eng still need 42, will Jack Leach be the a 5-wicket innings, test, & series winner?

What an ending
