Lucan Sarsfields v St. Annes
St. Judes v St. Brendans
Is there any shield competition?
The CCC Regs for this year say there is, looks like it will be 2 groups of 4 with a top 2 going into the final, so another 3 games at least:
The CCC shall organise a Shield competition in each championship for teams that fail to qualify for the knockout rounds of the championship proper.
Think its a good idea at lower levels, lads will just want to play games, but higher I dont think so, lads will want season over if struggling
Are the shields happening? Wonder will teams bother entering them if they’ve been idle a few weeks or just relegated
Hopefully and we certainly plan to field.
Great to hear and best of luck
Shield draw is after the qfs. Losing qf teams will be in the draw as well.
So am I right saying there should be 12 teams in the shields then?
Looks like it.
Could be knockout with the 4 losing quarter-finalists getting a bye (like the image). I haven’t been able to find anything to indicate what way they are going to do it though.
Yeah, was thinking thats probably the only way to do it
Is it not just 3rd place teams and losing QFs? That would be 8
I’d imagine you’re right - third place teams and losing Q/F. Bottom teams all go into relegation playoffs so they wouldn’t be in the shield.
There’s no relegation from Junior 6 anyway . The CCC regs says “The CCC shall organise a Shield competition in each championship for teams that fail to qualify for the knockout rounds of the championship proper.”
The relegation playoffs are set for the weekend of the quarterfinals.
I had forgotten about the no relegation thing with this championship. It might just be bottom two from each group then to make up 8 and losing QFs are finished for the year
Possible, but there is 3 game weekends listed before the final so its either a straight knockout or round robin with a final. Suppose we’ll find out in a couple of weeks unless someone else has insider knowledge!
Does anyone know for higher divisions is it Q/F losers and third place in each group that play shield?
That CCC Reg would imply it is 3/4 which would be unusual that 4th place in the group would play relegation play off and shield.
