Into the Lion’s den next so. Again all about performance really. We’d want the team to be taking shape soon but impossible really with the number of injuries. Really hoping to see Burke, COS, Hayes, Purcell, and Currie involved.
Pretty sure Burke and COS will be involved which would be a good start!
That’d be a good start, we can’t afford to lose either if we want to do anything in Leinster this year.
Kilkenny probably be well up for this one given the home defeat to Tipp.
Been a real effort in Kilkenny lately certainly by Cody previously to ensure Dublin arent given any encouragement that Kilkenny are on any sort of a slide
So they usually save a big performance for us . Could be a tough day . Hope I’m wrong .
Always the same fear when facing Kilkenny. Especially in nowlan.
I think if COS and Considine are working together it can give them something to think about
Donal and Boland pulling the strings . I’d worry about the new lads at the back though if Kilkenny get the run on us early on
Probably the biggest test so far for them . It’s a big game for MOD too.
Huge test, we weren’t that far off tipp all the same. A soft goal one way and a square ball goal disallowed the other. created loads of scoring chances, which is encouraging, just need to be a smidgeon more accurate.
Would be great if cos is back, he just adds to our attack and along with considine makes us less reliant on donal Burke. Kilkenny will surely put someone on donal to try & shut him down, but he seems to have got better again at making just enough space to get a shot away, even so, we’ll need other half forwards chipping in with scores. Another game into Danny will bring him along.
Be interesting to see if MD keeps trying things out of whether he starts to settle down selection. slightly confused as to why Dara Purcell is not heavily involved. Was really glad to see Sean currie was still on the panel. If you’re looking for summer hurlers they’re as good as anyone in Dublin.
Few lads like Cillian Costello need to show more when given chances. Boyle I wanted to see more of.
Cats would want to have slipped a very long way to be concerned about us when the serious stuff starts .
Thanks Rowdy you’re a Tipp man ?
No A Dub hoping to be proved well wrong .
I’d have similar fears myself.
Think TJ Reid & the Ballyhale players are back for this one. Seems to happen every year for their league game v Dublin!
Oh great
A good test. No hiding down there. If lads play well down there it’ll be a huge confidence boost and could be the making of them. The reverse is also true though. We need to treat this like a championship game. Praying we get a few lads back.
How do we solve the problem of Donal Burke? Absolutely no doubting his impeccable hurling skills and is a massive player but I cannot see us making any inroads without scoring goals and the way that Donal plays and is asked to play, we wont make any breakthrough… Yes we will put up 18/20 points etc and not get disgraced but if we want to make a serious attempt at getting a scalp or two then that means he has to vary his play and create openings for the other forwards to create goal chances, or that he is moved in and out from around the centre and full forward positions to create or be on the receiving end of a final pass for a goal… With our style of play via Donal we can literally by pass 3 or 4 forwards for the entire game in every game…This has to be down to management of the team play… I hope the mindset of avoiding ‘getting disgraced’ is not prevalent here and that some raw courage of a game plan is pursued to get goals and have a real go at it.
Dublin won’t score many goals with COS on the sidelines
Won’t get much charity in Kilkenny. Unless you’re …
But even when he is playing the only ball he gets into him is from the wing backs…We have no plan for him or other forwards when Donal gets it… Pls dont get me wrong, Donal Burke is one if the best players we have ever had but his role is not going to win us those important matches… If he can swoop up so much loose ball around the middle because he reads the break so well then logic tells me that he can do the same from inside the 21 and score goals and why I believe that he needs to toggle in and out of the mid centre and full forward line positions… We have to mix up our game plan…
It is an issue, but fewer goals being scored by teams copying the limerick style in general, where you point your way to victory more often than not.
I was hoping we were moving to a more rounded game plan after the Waterford game, good few balls dinked into considine v tipp as well but he was often crowded out from the clips I saw, he’s not a slow man and had two or more tipp players paying close attention in the clips I’ve seen.
